In July I took my first trip to Washington, D.C. I was long overdue in visiting our nation's capital and this visit did not dissapoint My home for the next two days would be Hotel Zena, a hotel designed by a woman, but open to all to enjoy. I made sure to visit the White House, and while there I witnessed a protest, a movie filming in real time all outside the presiden't residence., I walked the streets and took in the historical buildings, monuments, etc. I visited Chinatown, Little Ethiopia, and found some great streetart (one of my favorite things to do when visiting a city) along the way.
On recommendation I visited some great local spots for food, Busboys and Poets, and Oohs and Ahhs. The former we went to for brekfast and the latter was for soul food. Both places are frequented by locals so you know it had to be good.
While at Hotel Zena I took in their gallery of art work from artists across the globe, and learned the meaning behind the pieces on display. I tapped off my visit at Hedy's Rooftop (located on the top floor of Hotel Zena) with fab drinks, food and one of the best skyline views of Washingto, D.C.!
